It's Thanksgiving in the US next week and I've been thinking a lot about gratitude lately.
I'm all for it, of course.
Gratitude is amazing.
In fact, it's the very medicine my soul needs on a daily basis.
I'm just conflicted.
I'm conflicted because sometimes when we publicly express our gratitude for something WE have and are thankful for, we end up hurting others who are in DEEP PAIN because they DON'T have that thing.
It's super tricky.
And there's probably no easy answer to this dilemma, but I've decided that the best way for me to feel good about it is to PUBLICLY express gratitude for things that are UNIVERSAL and PRIVATELY express gratitude for things that are PERSONAL.
That's just was feels the most compassionate to me.
Anyway, here's a new minimalist "thankful" art print that I added to the library today. I think I'm going to print one, frame it, and have my family write our personal expressions of gratitude in the blank space using a dry erase marker. We'll see how that goes. :)
Happy printing!
