I have mixed feelings about this quote, because there have definitely been times in my life when I have felt that hope had simply "stopped" working for me. It's not always easy to feel a sense of hope when it feels like the world is caving in on you.
It seems, however, that there is a hopeful undercurrent of life that continues to hum along, even when we ourselves struggle to feel it. These are times when other people may need to carry the hope for us. Maybe this is what Emily meant to express when she said that it never stops it all.
May we seek to cultivate and fight for hope, even when it feels impossible to do so.
